Cabinet Maker Master
Summary Statement:
Applies and demonstrates a mastery of technical skills and advanced knowledge to fabricate first articles and all production that compose complete aircraft interior systems components using metallic and nonmetallic material.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricates first articles and production components of complete complex aircraft interior systems composed of a variety of major assemblies including cabinets, lavatories, bars, sinks and other like items. These interior systems are of a substantial variety and complexity requiring considerable experience and judgment to plan and accomplish. Works independently and determines own priorities.
- Works from sketches, verbal instructions and blueprints or drawings to complete the first articles and subsequent production assemblies that compose the interior system. Plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed. Marks outline or dimensions of parts on metallic or non-metallic material. Matches materials for color, grain, or texture.
- Sets up and operates variety of standard and special equipment and uses various hand and power tools to modify, fabricate, rework and repair all components of complete complex aircraft interior systems. Tools include, but not limited to, power tools, table saw, router, drill, sander, planer, and shaper.
- Cuts material to close tolerances according to blueprints. Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit. Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels or applies adhesive and structural glues and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit. Develops special and unique shop aids to assist in the production or installation of the components of aircraft interior systems.
- Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing. Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.
- Performs modification and repair cabinetry and related equipment of aircraft interior systems within or outside the aircraft at the same level of expertise.
- May be assigned to provide leadership to and instruct, train and otherwise assist other Employees in the performance of their duties.
- Assist with Employee evaluations as required.
- Understand and comply with all plant safety requirements for safe work practices as stated in applicable Material Safety Data Sheets and plant safety rules. Maintains the product and work area clean and free from debris.
Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
Job Qualifications:
Formal Education, Training and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Minimum nine (9) years experience in aircraft interiors and cabinet manufacturing or minimum thirteen (13) years related interior manufacturing or architectural cabinet manufacturing required.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must possess vision, which permits the performance of close tolerance work effectively.
- Must be able to move up to 50 lbs. throughout the facility.
- Must be able to tolerate dust, fumes, noise, temperatures, and other exposures in the shop area.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, step stools, ladders, scaffolding, platform ladders or mechanically elevated devices in order to perform job-related duties.
- Must be able to use equipment required in the performance of the job.
- (Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.)
Skills and Work Requirements:
- Must have extensive experience in aircraft interior fabrication.
- Must have all of the personal tools required to fabricate custom aircraft furniture.
- Must be willing and able to train others.
- Must be willing and able to work OT and weekends.
